This place is in a really nice location next to the SF Shopping Center (next to Bloomies) and occupies a huge space! The design is modern and chic.
The only thing I find disappointing about this place is the sandwiches are pricey and the portions are small. The good thing is the sandwiches are tasty..I would say it's an average sandwich shop.
I was excited to try Dottie's True Blue Cafe, but it was closed on Tuesday.
Then I was excited to revisit Brenda's French Soul Food, but it was also closed on Tuesday.
How I ended up at this average sandwich shop with way above average prices is really beyond me. I guess nothing is open in San Francisco on Tuesday, let alone Tuesday before 11am.
I had half a chicken salad sandwich and half a tomato soup for the outrageous price of $10. The chicken salad sandwich looked and tasted like old, dry chicken tossed in red sauce and slapped on bread. The tomato soup was decent but paled in comparison to Nordstorm Bistro Cafe's version, which I am absolutely and completely in love with and loyal to.
My friend had the marinated eggplant sandwich ($8). Although I think she enjoyed because she finished it, we're not running to come back here anytime soon. I'll stick to Saigon Sandwiches for mean, cheap, and huge sammies.

This place has a really nice location and store space! its huge! the design is nice and chic, and its nice to see how your sandwhiches are made.
I had the ffried eggs (bacon, gorgonzola & frisée sandwich on ciabatta roll) the girl that was working there asked if i wanted anything else different. and i didn't really bother to think about the cheese. Im not a cheese person except i like non smelly, non strong, and a cheddar/american cheese kind of girl - basically i lack that taste for cheese. The sandwich overall was a great ideal except for the Gorgonzola which threw me soooo off, i was so annoyed :[ how can a breakfast sandwich go wrong? i asked her about it, and she said she agreed that the Gorgonzola was too strong ... why didn't she warn me! :[ if only she warned me or said something about it, it coulda saved me from disappointment and deducting a star.
next time, i'll know better and maybe you dissapoint me!

This restaurant has some nerve serving very overpriced mediocre sandwiches on not so worthy bread! I have been wanting to come try Wichcraft out for over two years now and had the highest expectations. I really wanted to like it but that did not happen. Well, the sandwich was tasty but not very filling, I was still hungry. My husband had the Pulled Pork Sandwich which was very dry and skimpy. No smoky flavor, no sauce dripping out, just overwhelmed by the taste of mustard. The service was ok no complaints there. . Don't think that I will be going back there. I wish I loved it....I'm a big fan of Top Chef and Chef Tom.
Tom pack your knifes go! You need to go back to your shop and retrain everyone how to make a juicy sandwich. The pork was dry and overpriced.
I have been to many sandwich places that will give you good portions and priced right and the most important tasty! If you have a big appetite you will be disappointed or broke.
I tried their egg sandwich and I have to say that it's a pretty good sandwich. My hubby had their meatloaf and he really liked it. If I were in the neighborhood, I'd probably stop by again.
Nothing special or "gourmet" here at all. Sandwiches options were uninspiring and my chicken sandwich was tasteless. Had also a white bean soup that was ok but completely forgettable. For the price they should be offering more. Service was kind and fast and although the place was clean there was a strange filthy ambiance for some reason - or maybe was just me.
Will I return here? Nah, don't think so.
After my quick lunch I stopped by SF MoMA Cafe to get an espresso and their sandwich options and looks were way better. Note to self: try the SF MoMA Cafe next time!

Badly managed and mediocre food. This place is nothing special. It had filthy windows and we waited 20 minutes for our sandwiches... and there were only 3 people in the place. The toasted gruyere sandwich was not toasted or thoroughly melted and was rather bland. The hot chicken sandwich tasted like steamed chicken with no flavor with some olive tapenade. Again, pretty bland. This place needs to use salt or be more bold with their flavors. If you are going to an ultra gourmet sandwich place, you want to be blown away by the flavors... not bored.

- Expensive for a lunch sandwich
- Ok sandwich but portions are small
I ate here a few days ago and I was drawn by the fancy appearance. That should have been the first warning.
I ordered the turkey with avocado on a roll and a bottled drink. The total came to $13. So I thought well I must be getting a big sandwich for that price. The price is almost the same as Max's Cafe.
Guess what? The portions were small and the taste... was ok.
For $10 I can get 2 sandwiches at "Specialties" or 3 from Lee's Deli.
Sorry I won't be coming back due to the value of what I paid for.
Don't expect much by this witchery... it's not worth it.
~$9-something for a pastrami warm sandwich. I thought it'd be meaty, bready, piled high (for that price, you expect a GOOD-to-GREAT sandwich). What I got was a flat sandwich, pressed in a panini maker, lifeless. I could have done a better job with stuff from a grocery store. I could have gotten a better sandwich from Safeway. Heck, I'd rather go eat a Mel's diner across the street instead of this highpriced sandwich. It also took like 15min to make. The place was near empty.
How'd the sandwich taste, it was alright for a flat 'wich.
Lemonade for $1.95 was good, tart, fresh squeezed-ish (I think).
Oh yea, you get a bag of lightly salted chips with the sandwich. Whoopi.
If you walk by this place, hungry, keep walking. Oh wait... I should have, and walked to Bristol Farms.

I don't think that you get a good value at this sandwich place. Service is okay.
But overall the food is unremarkable, considering the prices they charge.
I've tried their fried egg (I like runny eggs) with bacon and gorgonzola on ciabatta, and the ham and avocado on baguette breakfast sammies ($5-7). Those were good.
Previously I had read in an internet blog about this marinated anchovy and soft-boiled egg sammie that is a favorite of a few east coast bloggers. The combination of ingredients sounded awful, but I just had to try it. I didn't like it at all, strong vinegar flavor, could not finish it. East coast bloggers: unless they use different quality of ingredients at your wichcraft location, I don't trust your reviews anymore.
For lunch I've tried the following so far:
- goat cheese, avocado, celery and walnut pesto on multi-grain
- chicken salad on multi-grain, nothing special.
- grilled cheddar, ham and pear on cranberry-pecan bread (I think that Boudin Sourdough has a similar bread)
- meatloaf, cheddar and bacon on ciabatta. Meh...
$9-10 is too expensive for just a sammie (no sides, no chips, no pickles, no drinks), and it's NOT even overstuffed. You can get sammies with similar ingredients in SF for $6-8, and those ARE a lot more substantial, and/or come with extras (soda, coleslaw, chips or a pickle).
If this place was located in a trendy neighborhood, instead of along Mission St. then I probably would be less critical about price. Also the effort of having to walk thru a shopping mall and around the back just to reach this place (unless you're walking from the Metreon along Mission St.), affects my perception of value. I'll be nice this time and give you 3 stars instead of 2.
The best offer is the soup and sammie deal (but I think that you only get to choose from a few: goat cheese, chicken salad, and I don't remember what else). All their drinks are expensive choices. I have not tried any of their desserts. This place closes at 6pm everyday.
They have a frequent diner card too, but I always forget to get it stamped.

I came here for lunch the other day and I was disappointed. After handing over about $10, all I got a dinky little slow roasted pork sandwich and NO drink. For $10, I was expecting a monster of a sandwich, maybe even a whole pig! All that was in the sandwhich was a few thinly sliced pieces of pork, cheese, and peppers. That's it!
As expected, the sandwich was very bland because the pork was simply too dry. The saving grace was that they put peppers into it so at least the kick kept me entertained as I tried to forget about my $10.

Cool interior, overpriced sandwiches that just aren't worth the money.
This place should be called "overpriced-disgusting sandwich combination-craft"
First, inline with other reviews, simply because you get some type of meat on your sandwich, should not jack the price up to $10, especially when the meat on the sandwich wouldn't cover a ritz cracker, this place is a rip off.
B, I'm not a picky eater, but looking over this menu, not one sandwich sounded good: a pork loin sandwich with tuna mayonnaise? a grilled cheese with mustard?
My girlfriend bravely decided on the chicken breast: grilled mushrooms & onions, green olive tapenade & fontina on grilled country bread. Bad choice.
There wasn't even a chicken nipple in this sandwich, much less enough to constitute a chicken breast. The olive tapenade was so foul combined with the rotten smell of the fontina cheese, that I gagged when they brought the sandwich out to us. After two bites, my girlfriend tried to eat just the chicken, but the whole abhorrent mix of ingredients made her unable to do even that.
Being Chinese, I don't let any food go to waste, but we left this bastard of a sandwich there to let them know how much of it was entirely inedible, and the thought of bringing it with us made me actually throw up a little bit.
This place was a sad disappointment, considering the one in Vegas was good (still expensive and light on the quantity, though). For a great sandwich, walk a few blocks east to Mission and New Montgomery, and get one from any of the great places like Specialties, Madeline's, Mixt Greens, hell, even Lee's was leaps and bounds better then Wichcraft (not that Lee's is bad, at all, just saying)
Okay sorry people who were complaining about the price, I understand it now.
I came here again and got a whatever chicken sandwich with melted cheese. Although this was very good but $9.50 for that with no sides, exept a bag of chips, is way fuckin much.
Still love the selection of drinks, namely for the golden oolong tea they carry is a big plus. But don't want to pay $35 for 2 sandwiches and 2 bottles of oolong tea.

Normally, a turkey sandwich with bacon and avocado on fresh, awesome bread would be worthy of four stars, on merits alone. But I have a beef that many 'wichcraft reviewers have: For the money, it just ain't all that.
I don't know this area of SF too well at lunchtime, so maybe I should give it a break. But knowing that Hennessey's is not too far (and a lot closer to where I work) sort of seals the deal. You get what you pay for there.
At 'wichcraft, one idea to make it better would be to give some side options for the base price of the sandwich. As it is, the paltry bag o' airplane-snack-size potato chips is borderline insulting.
So yeah, not altogether bad. Just not too alluring.

'wichcraft is a more expensive alternative to Cafe Venue. I had a warm meatloaf sandwich, which was ridiculously good. The combination of meatloaf, bacon and cheddar cheese made me an honorary member of the Future Heart Attack of the Month Club (trademark pending).
It's a nice place to eat because it looks hip and modern. There is a nice selection of sammiches, salads and beverages. The only draw back are the prices. With so many good, cheap options in the area it does take 'wichcraft down a notch, especially since the food at Cafe Venue is just as good but noticeably cheaper.
As you might have noticed, I am a very cheap person, so I like cheap places to eat.

A weird place and location... I always wish there were more options to choose from as I really have to be in the right mood for a specific sandwich.
There are 4 or 5 cold sandwiches and 4 or 5 hot sandwiches along with some salads and soups to choose from...you can get any sando over greens as a salad as well.
I've been a couple times and walk away fulfilled but never thrilled.
At times they have a BLT as the sando of the day and I like to get that when it is on the menu board.
Their soup of the day selections can be pretty good if you catch them on the right day...
They do have these cookie/creme desserts that look bomb but I never come here in the mood for a dessert
Came here for the first time yesterday after having passed by it more times than I can recall. The prompt was a lunch date with a new beau. (And lemme tell ya, my lunch partner was hotter than the sandwiches, fo sho! Mmmmhm.)
On a Tuesday at one o'clock, 'wichcraft was practically filled to the brim yet there was no line at the counter when ordering. Smashing! I got the Grilled Mozzaralla and Fontina sandwhich (and so did my lunch date).
There is a cute little upstairs section that really added an extra bit of flair to the too-cool-for-school environment. So, onto my 'wich. It was extremely rich and quite soggy to tell you the truth. Plus there was an overwhelming tomato/olive paste covering the bread which was frankly holding my yummy cheese hostage.
I only finished half and ended up giving the other half to a homeless person. I was no where close to being thrilled, but I'll be back to give it another try. Oh, and the new beau? I'll have to get back to y'all on that one.

When I first started at the Westfield mall, I was overwhelmed by the food choices. Coming from Stanford Shopping Center, which has no real food court, I couldn't make a decision, with Westfield's wide array of fancy eateries. Luckily, a co-worker suggested 'wichcraft.
Located right outside of the mall (you have to enter it from Mission St, giving the illusion that it's not really a part of the mall, when it is. At least, it's included on its directory) the big glass facade makes for perfect people-watching. The restaurant was started by "Top Chef" persona Tom Colicchio, and the restaurant can also be seen in Vegas and New York.
It's a 'order at the counter and we'll bring it to you' kind of joint. Their menu of sandwiches isn't huge, but its filled with yummy choices, both hot and cold. Every sandwich comes with a bag of chips. They don't serve fountain sodas, instead, you can grab a Boylan's from the fridge if you want a coke (it's better for you) It looks like they have a wine bar as well, although I've yet to check it out.
I personally like to get the soup and sandwich combo-- usually a grilled cheese with a tomato and Parmesan soup. With the chips and Boylan's, I am left completely satisfied with the portions (and still leave a few drops of soup in the cup) Also delicious are the grilled mozzarella & fontina and the onion frittata sandwiches. And YES, they do give mall discounts!
The service is great (and willing to fix mistakes. I ordered the grilled cheese but got Ham-- they were quick to fix. Also, another example is when a couple's order took too long to come out. They got their food, money and a dessert- on the house.) and the decor simple. 'wichcraft has made the art of eating sandwiches a bit more sophisticated.

It's slim pickin's around this 'hood for a decent lunch. Sure, you've got Mel's Diner and Denny's (reeeeeeeettttccccccccccchh!) and the ultra chaotic food court/circus of Westfield. Or you can head over to the food court in the sadly rundown Metreon but, that's it, Kit.
So, I think Wichcraft will do well. The interior is brand-spanking new with nice tables and chairs and indirect lighting and interesting succulents on many of the tables. Great natural lighting with huge windows to people watch at the foot traffic going by.
The sandwiches are so-so. I've been there twice. And they seem to be doing the Specialty's thing where the bread of the sandwich is more substantial than the fillings. Erm, no.
First time I got a chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad was dry, tasteless and the bread was thick and dry. I didn't eat more than a third.
Second time I got the pulled pork. A little tastier with fresh sliced jalapenos but still could have used more pork and fillings. The cibatta bread was overwhelming the rest of the sandwich.
Sandwiches are served with an airline-sized bag of chips. How uncreative and tacky. Think of something better.
Prices aren't bad ranging from $6.50 to $10 for most sandwiches. Fresh lemonade is tasty and there are free refills.
Not a bad spot - needs some tweaking to be truly good though.
Haven't eaten at the location, but my work gets lunch catered from here sometimes. Had the hummus sandwich with peppers and olive spread---gross. I had to spit it out, the flavors were way too strong and had too much of the olive taste. And I didn't like the spices in the hummus much either (although not as bad as the olives). My peanut butter cookie sandwich was delectable though...as was the chocolate one.
Maria D. and Megan W. are completely right: you're all a bunch of haters... 'wichcraft is awesome! Good atmosphere, tasty foods, an assorted variety of beverages (wine, beer, and non-corporate branded sodas), very friendly and helpful employees, and some sweet music to listen to while you chow down.
I was accompanied by the always wonderful Jackie M. for an early weekday lunch. It was nice and slow, not insanely jam-packed with the downtown lunch crowd. Both Jackie and I were able to spend under $10 per person for our lunch. I know a lot of the previous reviews criticize the pricing, but whatever, you bitches are crazy. Paying $8.95 for a half sandwich and a cup of the soup of the day is completely doable and even a good deal for something that you get at 'wichcraft, which is great quality food!
As I said, I paid $8.95 for the half sandwich and soup of the day. I came on a Tuesday and had the butternut squash soup with crispy chickpeas on top. The sandwich, based on Maria D's recommendation, was the goat cheese and avocado on multigrain bread with a walnut-pesto spread and watercress... I was apprehensive at first, but hot damn, that was one tasty sandwich! It also complimented the soup quite nicely.
All in all, it was a great experience... I will definitely be stopping by for a sandwich more often!

This is one of the only places I can think of in my life that I just can't stand. I got very excited when they opened it, I thought it would have some great gourmet sandwiches... Mediocre at best. The one star is for the peanut butter sandwich cookies they have, possibly the best cookie ever. I suggest going in to get a bunch of those cookies, scoffing at the price of their boring sanwiches, and getting out as quickly as possible. Ten dollars for an overcooked grilled cheese sandwich with some not-quite-fully-reconstituted black mushrooms on it? No thank you.
Amazingly clever name, and a decent logo. If my review was based solely on those two aspects, i'd be forced to fork over 5 stars.
Considering the food also....
There are a couple vegetarian options, wich (whoops... not so clever) i appreciate. But, somehow, everything I've tried other than the eggplant sandwich has let me down.
I can't comment on the service, as we always get pick up/take out from work.
Prices are what you'd expect from a place that features a goat cheese, avocado, celery, walnut pesto & watercress on multigrain bread sandwich.
Which is to say 8.95 for such an item is neither outrageous, nor outrageously cheap.
I'm definately a fan of wichcraft. location is great for me since I'm usually coming from Howard St. I've even walked right on thru the food emporium by Bloomies to get lunch here. I've had so far:
-chicken sald w/tomato jam on grainy bread. yumm! HUGE! I was stuffed, and if I hadn't been starving couldn't have finished it.
-tuna w/fennel and lemon. fantastic! not tuna salad, but good tuna with paper thin fennel and whole lemon. damn good.
-grilled ham and cheese. yum! I think it had mustard and apple?? could be pretending right now. ooooh sounds good.
must try meatloaf next!
this is review # 400 something for this place! I say go!
Was shopping in downtown, and sometimes it's hard to decide where to eat. I usually will grab something quick at the mega food mall inside Westfield, but the noise and crowds on a Sunday can get to you. Yet I still go since well it's fast and there isn't much on the weekends in fidi. I've heard about 'wichcraft and heard they are popular for their choice of local, sometimes organic foods. I had always thought that their entrance could be accessed through themall but you have to leave the malland walk a 1/4 of a block down. The place is very clean and modern, very airy with hardwood chairs and tables. I got the warm grilled cheddar w/ ham and pears on cranberry walnut bread - ($5.95) so not bad price wise. It was quite yummy, the ham was just right, not too salty and matched well with the melted cheddar and pears. Next time I want to try their breakfast grits!
Small sandwiches but BIGGG taste! Don't come here if you're uber uber hungry, but do come here if you want to try weird crack-laced sandwiches.
My all-time favorite here is their GRILLED CHEDDAR sandwich. Melted cheddar, ham, mustard and pears??? ...all on a tasty cranberry bread?? Weird but HELLOOOOOOO HEAVEN!!
My friends tried the GRILLED CHICKEN and that was tasty. I had a bite of this and it tastes awesome dipped in their creamy creamy creamy creamyyyyyyyy tomato soup! Buddies also tried the TURKEY sandwich and it was on the dry side. Tasted really good dipped in the creamy tomato soup. And yes, the creamy tomato soup is pretty dee-lish!
If you crave salt, try their PASTRAMI sandwich. Pastrami is awesome anytime, anywhere and so it's pretty awesome in wichcrafts' sandwich.
Wichcraft also serves beers on tap, ice cream sandwiches, and creme filled cookie sandwiches. Desserts deserve 5 stars, and food deserves anywhere from 3-4 stars, depending on my mood. Oh and sandwich orders also come with a tasty bag of salted potato chips.
The next sandwich I need to try is their MEATLOAF one. Who can pass up melted cheddar on a meatloaf surrounded with mouth-watering soft succulent bread? I surely can't. I hope it's as good as it sounds.
Yum...

Terrible location. Great Food. Although I didn't like the staff breaking down the furniture while I was still eating there. Haven't they heard of velvet ropes?
The peanut butter cookie with peanut butter inside was one of the best things I have ever tasted. My Golly. Then, I followed that by an ice cream sandwich with hazel nut ice cream. Lord Jesus!
All that considered I almost forgot to say that my meatloaf sandwich was very good.
Is this the place where I can nominate the worst block in San Francisco. I pick Mission and Fourth Street. A liquor store, 2 cheesy colleges, Denny's, Jack-in-the-Box, panhandlers & a Bus Stop. Somebody help a girl just trying to get to Bloomingdale's

Although nicely designed, stylish, and eco-friendly, and although I typically have a high tolerance for pretentiousness, Wichcraft just crosses my threshold. I find it to be an irritating dining experience and I'd rather spend my money at the SF Centre food court in the mall just next to it, or across the street at Mels.
Seriously, Wichcraft is nothing special - don't go there expecting a memorable dining experience.
Subway makes a better sandwich
I wished I could have a "do over" on my eating experience
what a let down.
We had
the Pastrami which was dull, flavorless, you couldn't even taste the sauerkraut ... even the mustard sauce was too sweet....
the mozzarella which was so overpowered by the olive tapanade
that it was unedible.
and lastly the pulled pork.which again was so overpowered by the stoneground mustard (and I love mustard) that my sis couldnt eat it..
really disappointing..
I had a quiznos sandwich today that was 100 times better than this place

The name of the place is pretty cool.
Unfortunately, there's not really much else that's good about it.
So I order a breakfast sandwich. Now, we got there before the lunch rush hit, but there were people who sat down after us who got their stuff before I did. The worst thing is that moment when your group is ready to eat but is still waiting for you. It's especially awkward when you barely know these people. Thanks for waiting.
Here's the best part:
I finally get my food and the fire alarm goes off. Seriously? Forget about it. We don't need no water let the motherf----r burn.
Sandwich was so so. Maybe more gorgonzola would have helped. Come to think of it, they may have forgotten to put some in the sandwich. It was that kind of experience.
The thing is it wasn't a terrible sandwich, but when you factor the price and how long it took to get to me, it Sucked!
'wichcraft is a place where it seems like the majority of people who eat there also work around the area. You've heard of tourist traps right? So would you call that a "workers trap?"
Again, the best thing I can say about this place is:
I like the name.

Eh, I'm not so into it. The space is large and sterile, and the sandwiches are overpriced. There's nothing healthy you can really opt for if you're trying to eat right either. I got the ham and cheese with pear and it tasted so greasy. Now I'm willing to put up with a little grease if it is delicious, but I wasn't even enjoying. So I finished half, left the rest, regreted the money spent and resolved to leave my brushes with Tom C. to Top Chef viewing from now on.
After hearing from sis about the rave reviews on Check Please Bay Area, decided it was worth it, to make the 40 min round-trip walk yesterday, over to 'wichcraft to see what the hype was all about
Couldn't decide b/t the Fried Egg (as I DO luv my all day b-fast) & the Goat Cheese sandwiches so got both - I'm all about being the meal planner & why not get something for now & something for later?! Plus bonus points for giving Tom's Chips away w/ each sandwich!!!
Went for the Fried Egg (sans bacon) first as it was the hot 'wich & I can say WOW - an actual fried-over-easy-egg. I was expecting a scrambled thingamabob & was pleasantly surprised by the actual egg w/ it's oozie-yolky middle.....Gorgonzola & frisee completed the concoction & while it could have used a bit more Gorgonzola, it was yummy - would definitely get again
Munching on the Goat Cheese for today's lunch & I can say OWW! The bread has become rock-hard & is tearing the hell outta my mouth. Wholly Frijole, I didn't know bread could get so brick-like, after 24 hrs!
Goat Cheese, Avocado, Walnut Pesto & Watercress (hold the celery!)
The flavors are really really good together - more Pesto would be even better - but man - that bread! I would still get it again but lesson learned to eat it same day or it's brick-city
Overall, if I was in the area, 'wichcraft would be a no-brainer choice. Is it worth a 40 min walk? Maybe not.....

It's a little bit expensive but the food is out of control. I had the meatloaf sandwich. It had the meatloaf, bacon, and cheese. It made me unbelievably happy :-) I paired it with an Anchorsteam beer.
The ambiance is very modern and open. Also... seems like a place for San Francisco hipsters.
Yummy anchovy and egg sandwich. -1 for forgetting to cut it in half, +1 for accidentally giving me extra chips.
Wichcraft has tasty gourmet sandwiches and not-completely-unreasonable prices. Take 'em out if you're in a hurry. Eat there if not - it's a nice clean modern decor.

Sandwiches here are awfully small for those with big appetite. I've had 2 kinds of warm sandwiches here. Slow roasted pork sandwich deserves zero star cus it was tasteless and the meat was dry. So dry that it didn't even taste like meat. It tasted like shredded paper, no joke, not that i've eaten shredded paper before but I can imagine what it tastes like. Pastrami sandwich was eatable. It's just on a plain wheat bread (or something that looks like it), swiss cheese, and pastrami -- lightly grilled. Nothing else. These sandwiches are more or less around $10 and comes with a small bag of Tim's chips. Save a few bucks and go to a better sandwich place, OR pay a bit more to go somewhere else better and actually enjoy your lunch!

I actually do love the sandwiches here. The questionable customer service is what I'm reviewing.
This place is close to work so it's pretty convenient to stop in on the days when I feel like paying 10 dollars for a sandwich, which is rare but it happens. I love love love the eggplant on ciabatta sandwich. When I got back to work to enjoy the sandwich I noticed that the eggplant was missing. I called just to let them know that they need to pay attention (in a very nice manner, mind you).
The lad on the other end was super super nice and offered to make me another one, no problem (those two stars are for you and you alone sir!)
I asked my friend to pick up the sandwich for me and when she arrived, there was a blonde woman giving her super big attitude. They had not even made my sandwich and the woman implied that I was lying....its a sandwich. not the end of the world.
My friend waited 15 minutes for them to make my little sandwich.
So two stars for the nice boy on the phone and negative three for the mean blond lady. Thanks for the eggplant.
Ok, i rarely give bad reviews, but this was not up to par.
1) LOVE TOP CHEF... and Tom (who owns this restaurant) is really brutal on this show about taste and complexity and so on... so why would I go to his restaurant and not be slightly impressed? I feel like nothing was special... it was a sandwich I could have gotten anywhere in this city... for less. The whole menu seemed plain, nothing innovative.
2) The place is ALWAYS empty... yet it's sooooo large. Which is never a good sign, especially since it's a nice location attached to a super busy mall and the decor is alright, so nothing should scare anyone away... which leads to the fact that price and lack of anything new scares people away maybe??? I am actually slightly complexed how it is sooooooo empty all the time... NASA needs to investigate this conundrum.
3) They close at 7... WHY??? Dinner is at 7.... DUH.... and it's a mall that closes at 9..... please feel free to dig the grave as deep as you need.
In the end, there are probably more numbers I could add to this list... mostly dealing with price and lack of menu items... but I will save myself time. I had such HIGH HOPES being that Chef Tom seems like he knows a thing or two about food and how to please customers... but nothing connected well here... no one I know ever mentions this place or wants to go... it's almost sad. There is SO MUCH potential... that seems lost.
